Our Review

 “Please say yes.”
“Yes, we’re doing the sex, Lydia.”
“Yay.”

There’s something so endearing, funny and sexy about Jana Aston’s books. You just can’t help fall in love with her characters and her words. Sweet yet passionate. Funny and somewhat naïve. Her heroes are wonderfully funny, sexy and dominant a direct opposite to her vulnerable, adorably inadequate and self-effacing heroines. We laughed so much whilst reading Good Girl, there really is something natural about this Authors humour, slightly sarcastic yet perfectly timed. It’s wonderful and a ray of lightness.

“Why are you being so mean?”
“Mean? His brows rise in surprise. “I just saved you from creepy Stan and I’m mean? He shakes his head. “Now you’re stuck with creep Rhys instead,” he mutters to himself.

Lydia is such a lovable nerd and we wish we had someone like her in our life. A ray of geeky sunshine with a penchant for the ridiculous. We fell in love with her and her slight silliness as well as her verbal diarrhoea. Starting a new job she soon realises that the man she was dared to snog one night is her boss’ boss’ boss’-ish boss and a calamity of a storyline ensues. Bordering of the outrageously silly, we could not put it down, it gave our hearts a levity we love when reading.  Her friendship with Payton was wonderful and we can’t wait for Payton’s book, Good Time at the end of the year, because her and Vince….intriguing!

‘What is wrong with me? Seriously. I’m better than this. I’m not that kind of girl. I’m good. I dot the I’s and I cross the t’s! I pay my bills early. I recycle! I do not proposition my boss for sex. Ugh. I’m so gross.’

Damn…Jana Aston writes an attractive hero, both in personality, manner and looks. Rhys is not overpowering nor controlling but a passionate, funny and sexy man who despite his self-proclaimed flaws and dominating ways truly cares about this geeky surprising girl. He never goes after the good girls, nor ones who are quite the bit younger than him but Lydia has ensnared him with her funny and eccentric ways, her innocence and her big heart. His way of unknowingly romancing her had our hearts in a puddle on the floor!

‘She thinks I’m a good man. I can see it on her face when she thinks I’m not looking. I can see it on her face when she knows I am…Too easy. Too easy to impress, too easy to ruin. Too fucking optimistic…’

This is a fabulous romantic comedy that’ll have you laughing and swooning in equal measure with Jana Aston’s trademark humour and sexy awkwardness that’s so very charming.

‘We’re goddamned spooning. Fuck. I roll onto my back, disgusted with myself. For so many reasons.’

Synopsis

I’ve always been a good girl.
I work hard, I follow the rules, and I always achieve my goals.

But sometimes good girls want things that aren’t good for them.
Or someone who isn’t good for them.
Like their new boss.

And sometimes they do very bad things to get his attention.
Like sell their virginity in an auction.

Who knew he’d be so very, very mad?
Maybe this was not my best laid plan…
