We’ve been in the grip of Royal Wedding Fever these past few months, and in the days leading up to the Wedding, we were craving a royal romance, excitedly jumping in to devour The Controversial Princess, book one in the Smoke and Mirrors Duet by Jodi Ellen Malpas, and it didn’t disappoint. We loved it! JEM delivered all that we love in this theme. A royal falling in love with a commoner, the forbidden aspect of their love, the richness and splendour of royal life, and the personal sacrifices being born into that world entails; the lack of privacy, and duty before love, at all costs.
Not only did Jodi Ellen Malpas deliver all that, she also injected a bit of mystery, had us gasping over some intriguing family secrets, and introduced us to a fabulous willful Princess, who sees her only ‘job’ in royal life as marrying ‘the right man’ and providing an heir. However, our Princess Adeline, wants to make a difference, and she wants to marry for love, and won’t settle for anything less. Certainly not the man her father has chosen for her. As a result, Princess Adeline enjoys many dalliances with men, much to the exasperation of The King, her security detail, and PR people who are always hand to keep her indiscretions out of the press. For Adeline, duty is to be put first, being a woman, second.
“Tell me. What are your dreams, Adeline?”
“Freedom,” I answer honestly.
The free spirited Princess can’t bear the stuffiness of royal life and won’t conform. Adeline may be strong willed, but she didn’t stand a chance against Josh Jameson when he entered her life. Ladies, you need to prepare your hearts for the romantic, commanding, kinky, confident and oooohhh so sexy hero Josh Jameson who will make you weak at the knees with his Southern charm! This sexy, American Hollywood heartthrob was deeeelicious! His charisma and confidence was the perfect match for the wayward Princess in every way, bringing out the fun, sensual side of Adeline.

Jodi Ellen Malpas really does know how to write a sexy hero that’s for sure, because Josh Jameson was written to perfection! Whenever he spoke, we got goosebumps, such was the convincing way she brought him to life. We can only imagine the affect he had on Princess Adeline…geez, she didn’t stand a chance against Josh’s charm and his dirty talk! Wow! Did this man know how to bring it!
“Please, ma’am, will you remove your knickers.”
“I will.”
“That’s a line I never imagined I’d say,” he muses quietly…
We loved the heat, the humour and the romance of this story. The interactions with Adeline and her security guard, Damon were particularly witty and sweet. Did that man have a job on his hands keeping Adeline in line! We adored this working relationship that had morphed into friendship.
The Controversial Princess provided us with the romance our hearts needed, the passion our hearts craved, with jaw dropping twists and turns that kept us guessing, and eagerly flipping the pages. To say we’re desperate for the conclusion, His True Queen, when it releases on 7th August, is in understatement! What an ending!

If you’re suffering from a royal wedding hangover, this book will fill that void. If the royal wedding didn’t get your hearts racing, then rest assured The Controversial Princess will. A big thumbs up!

Synopsis

Heyyyy 🙂 !!! A big fan from Ethiopia. I am still not sure if recommending books to a book blog is right or wrong but I am still doing it because you are amazing and i feel like i am hiding out on you if i don’t tell you. Drum rolls please… ahem…. quite a recent book…. by Tessa Bailey….. called….. Getaway Girl. Kind of a romcom but with amazing characters and really really steamy sceans. But still the book is a solid book so cheak it out if you have time. Going back to more important things, even thought it is irrelevant, I just want to tell you how amazing this book blog is because I atleas cheak twice a day as… yes that is how addicted I have become. Love the books you recommend and the way you describe is really raw and accurate soooooo love you *covering face and blushing * in a very platonic, I idolizing way…. just in case you were getting creeper out.
