When A Chip and a Chair landed on our kindles we held it reverently in our hands as if it were the Holy Grail. That is how much we’ve been anticipating this final series instalment, the exciting and revealing conclusion to Levi and Dominic’s journey which we’ve been following and loving since day one. A story that’s had us on the edge of our seats, pulling our hair in frustration, falling in love; our hearts beating and breaking for beloved characters. Our curiosity growing to a fever pitch as we desperately searched the sentences for clues that would reveal the identity of the Seven of Spades serial killer who’s been tormenting Detective Levi, handing out their own brand of vigilante death sentences.

Cordelia Kingsbridge had us yelling out in exclamation when everything was revealed in one powerful and chill-inducing sentence. One of the best reveals we’ve come across. The kind that sneaks up on you, yet you know it’ll be there in black on white the moment you turn the page. Whilst we’ve had theories and many names on our suspect list as we moved through this series, we were never convinced we had the right person. And despite –this- name being one of the many on our list, we were as shocked as our beloved Levi and Dominic were because of this author’s sensational writing. It was never clear cut, and it was never an easy way out! She wrote it with precise perfection.

Standing ovation from us to you Cordelia Kingsbridge. You have completely wowed us to the point where we really cannot express our utter astonishment at finding a series so magnificent and enthralling. A series that felt so incredibly real that we would love nothing more than for it to be made into a film or series. Levi and Dominic will forever own our hearts, we will never forget them. We will always remember as our love for these two men grew to a dizzying height as we followed the dramatic -cat and mouse chase- for a serial killer whilst experiencing the ups and downs of their love story and individual struggles and inner demons.

We feel at a loss now. It’s over. We feel like we’ve lost a friend, but we know -without any question- that one day we will re-read this entire series once more and experience it all over again. It was with a sad melancholy yet also a sigh of loving contentment that we closed the last book in one of the most addictive and outstanding suspense romance series we’ve ever read.
