QUIET MAN (Dream Man #4.5) by KRISTEN ASHLEY

‘If you couldn’t call a badass…Then it was far from second best to call a commando.’

Reading Quiet Man by Kristen Ashley was pure indulgence for us. We often reminisce about the old school KA who we love with all our hearts. The Rock Chicks series and The Dream Man series being just two of this Author’s series which we can re-read over and over again and still feel how we did the first time we read them. So, to say we felt like we were in reading heaven with Quiet Man is putting it mildly.

‘Charlotte McAlister was a class act. Funny. Smart. Talented. Thoughtful. Together. Professional. And sexy AF. Yeah. This job was totally going to be torture.’

We have to admit that we were a bit apprehensive as it’s been a few years since we last fell in love with a KA book the way we fell in love for the first time back in 2011. However, we were pleasantly surprised as we loved every moment spent with Lottie and Mo. And let’s not forget the rest of the Dream Men and Hot Bunch and of course dear old Smithie. Oh wow how we’ve missed these characters and this version of Kristen Ashley. Suspenseful, fun, sexy and HOT! We do have to say we were a tad surprised at how quickly the ‘drama’ was solved as normally there are all kinds of shenanigans and ‘character danger’, however, we put that down to the fact that this was a novella.

“You know, this isn’t woman-falling-for-her-bodyguard syndrome, honey…It’s Lottie-falling-for-Mo syndrome.”

The story begins with a letter. A letter that has Smithie calling upon Hawk (sigh) as Lottie’s life is in danger and he doesn’t want to engage the Rock Chicks nor the Hot Bunch as things for them are finally calm, happy and perfectly at peace! Lottie is the star of Smithie’s strip club from the Rock Chick’s series and she’s family. Hawk immediately sets his commando, the huge powerhouse that is Mo Morrison on Lottie watch. Mo is a man of few words but when he does speak it’s as powerful as his protection and persona is. Lottie and Mo have an instant attraction that is smoking hot but they know they can’t act upon it until the case is solved. The chemistry was HOT, the anticipation intense!

 ‘Mo’d been wrong. He could not fall in love with her. That shit was already happening.’

We loved being back here, we loved the fact that there’s more to come and we would’ve loved to have kept reading! The joining of The Dream Man series and The Rock Chicks was brilliantly written and we felt the power when all these characters were gathered. Our hearts! The nostalgia for us was all over this novella, not just in regard to the characters but over the fact that this is as close as we’ve gotten to the old school KA we know and love, and it’s been a while since we were last able to say that. Bring it on! We want more!
