RIVEN KNIGHT (Clifton Forge #2) by DEVNEY PERRY

Our Review
‘After everything that had happened on that mountain, in that cabin, Genevieve and I had to lie.’
‘Day by day, I was falling in love with the lie.’
Riven Knight is the second book in the Tin Gypsy series by Devney Perry. We really enjoyed the first instalment; Gypsy King, but we loved Riven Knight! The storyline from book one continues here with the after-effects of the drama that played out on the mountain. A kidnapping, a death and a fire. Just what actually happened? And why do Genevieve and Isaiah need to get married to protect themselves? Well, we were absolutely dying to find out and Devney Perry had us on tenterhooks throughout. The way in which it played out was so compelling and full of twists, we loved it. The writing is superb and the intensity and intrigue gripping. Not only that, but we also loved the sibling connection with Kaine from Tragic; Devney Perry’s Lark Cove series, which was a 5 star read for us!
‘When Isaiah found the right woman, one he loved and who loved him in return, they’d shine brighter than the light from a thousand stars.’
Isaiah is the epitome of a silent tortured hero, which is such an addiction of ours. Everything he embodies is like a drug we can’t get enough of. We loved him! The guilt and self-loathing he feels is literally bringing this powerful man to his knees. However, he has a quiet strength and a broken heart that yearns to be loved. Genevieve has lost almost everything, she feels alone and is quite lost. She’s frightened by what happened on the mountain so seeks solace in Isaiah, despite it being a marriage of convenience rather than love. We all know where those end up though don’t we! This romance was so slow burn we felt the tension and tantalising chemistry. Genevieve is such a strong character despite the position she finds herself in. She’s feisty and has such a huge heart. We fell in love with both Isaiah and Genevieve; their stories so incredibly tragic, both marred by their past. All they wanted was to keep each other safe, feel protected and loved.
‘Silence was my armor. Because if I cut myself open, I’d never be able to sew the wounds shut.’
This series is just getting better and better with Riven Knight proving to be one heck of a heart-breaking and emotional rollercoaster ride. It had everything that excites us; romance, heat and a brilliantly written story. Not only that, it was high on suspense, drama and passion. All our questions from Gypsy King were answered and the unfinished had closure. Isiah and Genevieve’s journey was a dangerous and rocky path of murder and violence leading to love, hope and family unity. We’re now going to jump straight into Stone Princess as we’re on a Tin Gypsy rush!
‘I wasn’t losing her. We’d figure this out or die trying.’
Synopsis

Genevieve Daylee didn’t expect to be standing in front of a judge on her twenty-seventh birthday. But ever since her life became entangled with a former motorcycle gang, she’s learned not to expect anything but trouble.
Her mother, a woman she once admired and adored, is gone, leaving behind a trail of secrets and lies. She’s living in a tiny apartment above a garage owned by her brother, a man who loathes her very existence. And the father she met beside her mother’s grave is as much of a stranger as Isaiah Reynolds, the broken man with soulless eyes standing beside her in front of the judge.
Isaiah is her protector from the murderer at large in Clifton Forge. Though he’s more like a riven knight in dented armor than a prince on a white stallion. She knows next to nothing about him, other than he works as a mechanic. As of tonight, he’ll be sharing her bathroom.
And, according to the judge, Isaiah is now her husband.
