THE INVITATION by VI KEELAND

Our Review
“I think life is a series of stepping stones that branch out in all different directions. We have no idea what path we’re supposed to follow, so we tend to walk a straight line and follow the biggest stones because that’s the easiest thing to do. Coincidences are the smaller stones that lead you on a path that veers off. If you’re brave enough, you follow those stones, and you wind up exactly where you’re supposed to be.”
Oh swoooooon, The Invitation by Vi Keeland was just pure soulmate romance entwined in second chances, heartbreak, and angst. We loved the storyline, it was cheeky, emotional, and beautiful, with a hero who was to die for, pure lusciousness. Hudson…. sigh Hudson will steal your heart with his romantic ways, his wonderful bond with his daughter and the emotions he wears on his sleeves when revelations shake the ground beneath him. This story is one of fate guiding love, perseverance and overcoming lies and deception as well as making your dreams come true.
“Glad you finally listened to the whisper, sweetheart.”
“I didn’t really have a choice. My whisper has been more like a scream lately.”
It all begins with a scene that will make you laugh, straight out of the Wedding Crashers, we fell in love with Stella. A straight-talking no-nonsense girl with a penchant for the eccentric. She knows what she wants, and she’ll work hard to get it. We read The Invitation in one sitting, falling in love with not only Stella and Hudson but also Olivia, Fisher and the little sweetheart, Charlie. This single dad romance has definitely been our favourite book by Vi Keeland. The build-up was a proper slow burn and we just knew something huge was going to happen, and when it did it rocked the otherwise strong foundation. But where fate is involved and soul mate love resides, well there’s no stronger foundation than that!
‘What if I’m wrong? What if I’m right? What if telling him takes the most sacred thing in his life away?’
If you love strong characters, a slow-burn swoony romance and for your emotions to be tested in heartbreak and angst, then The Invitation is definitely for you. Vi Keeland wrote a wonderful soulmate love which kept us reading from the first page to the last with a smile on our face, an extra beat in our pulse and a tear in our eye. The chemistry was scorching! We would love to have experienced more afters, but then we’re greedy like that!
“Do you feel scared right now?” he whispered.
“More than ever.”
He smiled. “Good.”
Synopsis

The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city.
Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts.
I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time.
Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was. You see, that unexpected invitation I received? Well, it hadn’t actually been addressed to me—it was sent to my ex-roommate who’d bounced a check for two months’ rent and moved out in the middle of the night. I figured she owed me an expensive night out, but I guess, technically, I was crashing the wedding.
Once caught, I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. As I bolted for the door, I might’ve plucked a few bottles of expensive champagne off the tables I passed, all while the gorgeous, angry groomsman was hot on my tail.
Outside, I jumped into a taxi. My heart ricocheted against my ribs as we drove down the block—but at least I’d escaped unscathed.
Or so I thought.
Until I realized I’d left my cell phone behind at the table.
Take one guess who found it?
This is the crazy story of how Hudson Rothschild and I met. But trust me, it’s only the tip of the iceberg.

REVIEW: “Honey, the best kind of love story happens when we don’t feel lovable, when we feel ugly and bruised, like the reject of the pile. That’s when that shit sneaks up and bites the hell out of you.”
