✿WHAT WE’RE CURRENTLY READING✿

THINGS WE NEVER GET OVER (Knockemout #1) by LUCY SCORE
Available to Purchase Ebook  Paperback  Audio

We are absolutely LOVING this book! We love everything about it. We’re halfway through and know this is going to be a winner!
It’s currently on sale for 99c/99p so be sure to grab it!

What it’s about

Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon.

Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded, runaway bride.

Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin, to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way….With fists and beer. Usually in that order.

Too bad for Naomi, her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now, she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home – with an 11-year-old going on 30 to take care of.

There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications, or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But, since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble, he can leave her alone, and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.

At least, that’s the plan, until the trouble turns to real danger.

BRUTAL PLAY (False Start #2) by ALISON RHYMES
Available to purchase – Ebook   Paperback

‘I’ve always believed Noah was the other half of my soul. Something otherworldly connected us, his heart called to mine and that’s why I was so obsessed with him. Because we were destined somehow. Fate made me believe it, but that bitch lies.’

We had eagerly awaited Brutal Play by Alison Rhymes since reading Broken Play which we loved and is where we met Noah and Lorelei. We fell in love with the dominant and gorgeous Noah, who was a bit of an enigma but had a backstory that we had a feeling would break our hearts. And as for Lorelei, well, she was the villain in Broken Play, the marriage breaker, the backstabber, and the complex and disturbed former friend of both Noah and Drew. Could she be redeemed?

Brutal Play was brilliantly written. It was hard-hitting, clever, and extremely evocative in its emotion as well as passion. This Author didn’t hold back, rather Lorelei’s redemptive journey was full of twists, surprising revelations and so much angst it overflowed. It was an emotionally exhaustive journey, but one that we relished as our emotions and feelings were pulled in multiple directions. You know those moments that have you so enraged you want to either jump into the story and throttle someone or even throw your kindle at the wall? Yeah…Brutal Play has these moments aplenty! Another winner from Alison Rhymes.

FRACTURED SKY (Tattered & Torn #4) by CATHERINE COWLES
Available to purchase Ebook  Paperback  Audio

“I could never regret you. Even when it hurts, I want to feel that pain because you make me remember that I’m alive.”

We’ve loved every book in the Tattered & Torn series, especially as each book brought us closer to Shiloh’s story. This is a story we’ve been desperate to read since our first meeting in book one. This young lady has been such a sad and lonely ghost of a figure throughout each book, breaking our hearts with her pain and solitude, and we adored the way Catherine Cowles brought us full circle in Fractured Sky, which was our favourite book in the series. Characters don’t come much better than Ramsay Bishop and Shiloh Easton. What beautifully complex characters they were. Shiloh and Ramsay held our hearts captive from start to finish.

Catherine Cowles delivered a touching story befitting of Shiloh and Ramsay. A small town, slow burn, age gap romance, peppered with suspense, and brimming with love and emotion. This is a story of healing and trust. A story about finding that person who allows you to thrive and become your best self. What a book! What a series!

A LITTLE TOO LATE (Madigan Mountain #1) by SARINA BOWEN
Available to purchase Ebook  Paperback  Audio

‘Together, we had everything. Until the day we didn’t.’

A Little too Late by Sarina Bowen is such a wonderful second-chance romance that had our hearts swooning all the way through. There was a lot packed into Ava and Reed’s story and their book has set this series up very nicely. A bit of intrigue, skulduggery, and deception frames a story of love, friendship, and family reconciliation

This story is not particularly high on angst, rather, it was so sweet, quite sad, and ever so heart-warming. Ava and Reed were unexpectedly thrown together again after a decade apart. A decade where neither has been able to establish a long-lasting romantic relationship with anyone else -as really- their hearts still belonged to each other after all this time. Their college love affair was so powerful that they were both knocked sideways when a tragedy befell them and they reluctantly went their separate ways, for reasons which they both regretted. Poor Ava was abandoned when she needed Reed the most and found herself settling down in his childhood home of Madigan Mountain. Ava was a wonderful heroine, this Author wrote her with a perfect blend of strength, sweetness, vulnerability, and sassiness.

A LITTLE TOO CLOSE (Madigan Mountain #2) by REBECCA YARROS
Available to purchase  Ebook  Paperback

“Sometimes I think we spend our adulthoods trying to heal whatever cut us as kids.”

5 ‘fabulous’ Stars! From the moment we started this book, our text messages and phone calls were flying back and forth professing our heady love for this book.  Rebecca Yarros is such a gifted author. Her writing makes us feel as though we are in the thick of her stories, experiencing every moment with her characters. Her ability to vividly bring to life a scene means we can escape everything and lose ourselves in her words. And that certainly was the case with A Little Too Close. We could feel the snow crunching under our feet and taste the snowflakes on our tongues, whilst experiencing the emotion and angst deep in our hearts.

We adored this book. There wasn’t anything we didn’t love. From the setting to every character and their story. From the pain of long-held family resentment to the ache of loving a man too frightened to love. Every part of this story touched us in some way.

A LITTLE TOO WILD (Madigan Mountain #3) by DEVNEY PERRY
Available to Purchase  Ebook  Paperback  Audio

“I like this. You at my mercy.”
“Raven, if you think I haven’t been at your mercy from the beginning, then you haven’t been paying attention.”

We’ve loved every single book, enjoyed a variety of heroes and heroines and had three exciting love stories which completely stole our hearts. The setting has been so idyllic and vividly written about, we could hear the snow crunch under our boots, we could smell the scent of pine and clean frost in the air. This series can be read as standalones, however we highly recommend reading the entire series, not only because of the interconnected storylines, characters, and background but because every book is just that good!

The chemistry between Crew and Raven was scorching. But not only that, both are thrill seekers who inspired each other tremendously and had a tangible emotional affinity to one another. We loved their love story. We loved being back with Reed & Ava and Weston and Callie from the previous two booksIt was a beautiful journey, one which we relished, alongside each brother as they worked through their problematic relationships, especially with their dad, resolving their issues and finding peace. Finding their happy place, finding love.

THE BAYOU NEVER TELLS by CHELLEY ST CLAIR
Available to purchase Ebook  Paperback

“Everyone has a moment where they need an angel, and anyone can be the angel in someone’s moment.”

Chelley St Clair has woven a tense, suspenseful torrid age gap enemies to lovers’ story with a menacing underlying tone. This author certainly doesn’t shy away from the gritty, with parts of this story being quite brutal, and sometimes difficult to read. However, the tone of this story dictated that Ivy and Silas’s story be told in all its ugly and jaded ominous environment, and Chelley St Clair did just that.

Told in a dual POV, we discover, despite their very different upbringing, Silas and Ivy have more in common than they would ever know. As much as we were gripped by The Bayou Never Tells, we have to admit that there were times we felt the story slow-going and we became a little disconnected, however, the author would once again drag us back in until the dark, intimidating story hit its crescendo, with part two taking a very dark turn – you’ve been warned!

BEFORE I LEET GO (Skyland #1) by KENNEDY RYAN
Pre-Order (Releasing 15th November)  Ebook  Paperback  Hardback  Audio

‘I wondered if this—-finding someone you can laugh with when everything hurts—-was the stuff happily ever afters were made of.’

As far as second-chance romances go, the divorced/reconciliation theme is one of our favourites. There’s something so achingly painful, and sad in these stories, yet at the same time, we’re filled with eternal optimism for the couple concerned. We live and breathe their pain, their love, and their sorrow, all whilst eagerly awaiting that moment when they (hopefully) reconcile.

In Before I Let Go, Kennedy Ryan has encompassed everything we love in this trope. Yasmen and Josiah Wade’s journey is as agonising as it is beautiful. As hopeful as it is hopeless, and it’s told with such honesty and emotion, you can’t help but take this story of story of love, hope, and healing to your heart.
